| The Process Begins with Bill Goodwin making a call to Frontier Leather Works' leathercraftsman, Lynn B. Tompkins |
| A Basic design is produced to give a rough idea where both images and lettering might go. From this we begin hand cutting the individail pieces that will make up this complicated R-8 Western rig. |
| Once the basic cuts are completed Lynn carefully designs the tooling positions, and all by hand. Every items is hand stamped on an old log which helps produce an even image. Here you can see Lynn working on both the holster and belt before any dying takes place. Here you can see the design had to be altered on the belt from the paper drawing due to the lack of appropriate space |
| Once the tooling is complete the basic dye is applied by hand followed by the darker border and a special paste to accent the recessed lettering and images. Once this is complete and dried a special finish is applied to seal in the dye and paste. |
| Once the ammo loops are sewn on, the rig begins to take shape. Hardware is added and the holster positioned in a special slot making the Drop Down Rig complete. Leg straps and Hammer strap are put in place and it's time to photograph for the client. |

To the left Bill had the back side (EAGLE) Morgan Silver Dollar Concho added to the belt. To the right you can see the custom leather patch which was added to the inside of the belt forever honoring his Father |
